Provence style kitchen

Provence is a French “country”, a style of the southern region of France, which is associated with magnificent nature and delicious country food, bright sunshine and the fresh smell of the sea. Provence style is a charming atmosphere of coziness and positive, it is ideal for a country house, however, observing the main trends, even small rooms can be decorated in this style. When designing a kitchen in the Provence style, color is of the utmost importance. As a rule, light, pastel colors and milky shades are used for decoration. For kitchen furniture in the Provence style, white, light transparent shades of green and turquoise, the colors of lavender and sea waves, as well as warm terracotta and yellow tones, are relevant. The basic materials of the Provence style are rough stucco and wood, so kitchens in the Provence style are most often made of solid wood or appropriately decorated.
Actual items of kitchen furniture – round dining tables, a variety of sideboards, cabinets, display cases, and chests of drawers, as well as numerous open shelves filled with trinkets or kitchen utensils that are decoration elements. One of the characteristic elements of the Provencal style is the effect of aging: all interior items and materials used in the decoration bear the imprint of time, cracks, chips and scuffs add special charm and charm to the interior. Therefore, for the design of a kitchen in the Provence style, kitchen sets with patinated facades are ideal. Successfully fits into the kitchen interior in the Provence style and enhances the vintage – forging. Forged furniture, lamps and decorative elements add notes of luxury and elegance to the interior. Copper utensils and textiles often act as decorative elements, the diversity of which is emphasized with the help of fabrics – coarse cotton, chintz and bleached linen with a printed pattern and floral motifs. For pillow covers, tablecloths and napkins, lace is often used. Much attention is also given to plants: the interior is decorated with fresh bouquets, sachets and hanging bunches of herbs.

Cottage style kitchen
Style cottage – a modification of country style, adapted to urban needs. It combines the comfort of country with urban comfort. If the traditional country is too heavy for you, and you do not like modern styles, think about a cottage-style kitchen. The cottage style was formed in America when one of the main signs of the American way of life began to develop – the so-called suburbia, that is, the suburb.
Cottage construction was booming, economic growth allowed many families to have their own home, the arrangement of new housing took on a massive nature, so for literally a dozen years a typical American cottage style has developed. Subsequently, he became popular all over the world, and now you will understand why.
The cottage style has developed, as the sum of different ways to make country style more functional and more vibrant, energetic.
The style of the cottage takes over from the country-style island layout of the kitchen (although it is not mandatory) and kitchen furniture with open shelves. But here glass doors and more laconic forms of facades, which are more convenient to wash, are already appearing. After all, the owners of the cottages have absolutely no intention of spending all their time on caring for the kitchen, they already have many other values, except for the house.

The island layout acquires a resemblance to a bar counter, and furniture of typical “urban” forms appears – chairs with high legs.

Dining areas are decorated in the spirit of a country, but acquire more vibrant and rich colors. This applies not only to walls – instead of white faience dishes characteristic of the country style, color appears, in tablecloths less traditional embroidery is used, more often bright factory prints. Table setting becomes more complex, familiar to the urban look.

However, the style of the cottage is not going to abandon the favorite feature of the country style – the colors. And note that these are mainly garden or even wildflowers, and not exquisite varieties. Housing in the suburbs implies proximity to nature, and this is manifested, including in the love of the cottage style for simple flowers and floral patterns – primarily, of course, in textiles. Textiles should be emphasized. The country-style and cottage style in particular greatly respect the various types of cages and checkered patterns. Now we perceive the checkered fabric rather as a sign of folklore style in the interior.

Therefore, if you choose a cottage style for the interior of your kitchen, and you do not like floral patterns, then checkered towels, tablecloths and potholders will be just right. Moreover, the cage is used in the cottage style even for fixtures and lamps – and it looks very nice. But the furniture is deliberately of gross forms, and even with forging elements – this is a sign of one of the most brutal varieties of country – the rustic style, and it is rarely used in the style of a cottage.
